Seminar Topics

Topic 1- Virtual Surgery on 3D Models using Virtual Reality

Abstract:

VR(Virtual Reality): A Computer system is used to create an artificial world in which the user has the impression of being in that world and with the ability to move through the world and manipulate objects in the world. The virtual reality systems attempt to create "presence". Presence is the un-remarked sense of being in and reacting to the events in a place.

Virtual Surgery, in general is a virtual reality technique of simulating surgery procedure, which help surgeons improve surgery plans and practice surgery process on 3D models. The simulator surgery results can be evaluated before the surgery is carried out on real patient. thus helping the surgeons to have clear picture of the out come of the surgery.

The Surgeon can view the anatomy from wide range of angels. This process, which cannot be done on a real patients in surgery, helps the surgeon to correct incision, cutting, gain experience and therefore improve the surgical skills. Virtual surgery is based on the patient specific model, so when the surgery takes place, the surgeon is familiar with all the specific operations that are to be employed.

Topic 2- Object Detection And Interaction Using Sixth Sense Computing

Abstract:

Sixth Sense' is a wearable gestural interface that augments the physical world around us with digital information and lets us use natural hand gestures to interact with that information. By using a camera and a tiny projector mounted in a pendant like wearable device, 'Sixth Sense' sees what you see and visually augments any surfaces or objects we are interacting with. It projects information onto surfaces, walls, and physical objects around us, and lets us interact with the projected information through natural hand gestures, arm movements, or our interaction with the object it

The Sixth Sense prototype is comprised of a pocket projector, a mirror and a camera. The hardware components are coupled in a pendant-like mobile wearable device. The device projects visual information, enabling surfaces, walls and physical objects around the wearer to be used as interfaces; while the camera recognizes and tracks the user's hand gestures and physical objects using computer-vision based techniques. The software program processes the video stream data captured by the camera and tracks the locations of the colored markers at the tip of the user’s fingers using simple computer-vision techniques.

The movements and arrangements of these fiducials are interpreted into gestures that act as interaction instructions for the projected application interfaces. The maximum number of tracked fingers is only constrained by the number of unique fiducials, thus Sixth Sense also supports multi-touch and multi-user interaction.

Why i am doing Mtech

Mtech is my passion. I want to gain more knowledge on core subjects. There are so many things that we might have skipped studying in our ug's this is where we can go back and collect them. Mtech also helps you out in going for research works. I can also have an idea of going for phd.

Method used: Flesch-Kincaid (English).
